नई दिल्ली: भारतीय रंगमंच के सबसे प्रतिष्ठित पुरस्कार और फ़ेस्टिवल माने जाने वाले महिंद्रा एक्सीलेंस इन थिएटर अवॉर्ड्स (मेटा) का 21वाँ संस्करण 19 से 25 मार्च 2026 तक राष्ट्रीय राजधानी नई दिल्ली में आयोजित किया जाएगा। महिंद्रा समूह द्वारा स्थापित और टीमवर्क आर्ट्स द्वारा प्रतिवर्ष निर्मित मेटा भारतीय रंगमंच की विविधता और रचनात्मकता का उत्सव मनाने वाला प्रमुख राष्ट्रीय मंच है।

मेटा सचिवालय ने 2026 के लिए 13 श्रेणियों में नामांकित शीर्ष 10 नाटकों की घोषणा कर दी है। इन नाटकों का मंचन नई दिल्ली में एक सप्ताह तक किया जाएगा, जहाँ प्रतिष्ठित जूरी की उपस्थिति में प्रस्तुतियाँ होंगी। अंतिम पुरस्कार विजेताओं की घोषणा 25 मार्च 2026 को कमानी ऑडिटोरियम में आयोजित भव्य रेड कार्पेट अवॉर्ड्स नाइट में की जाएगी। इससे पहले के दिनों में कमानी ऑडिटोरियम और श्रीराम सेंटर में प्रतिदिन दो सत्रों में नाटकों का मंचन होगा।इस वर्ष चयनित नाटक सामाजिक सरोकारों, नई कथा-शैली, पौराणिक आख्यानों के पुनर्पाठ, पहचान, लिंग और वर्ग से जुड़े रूढ़िगत ढाँचों को चुनौती देने तथा हाशिये की आवाज़ों को मंच देने जैसे विषयों पर केंद्रित हैं। ये नाटक मिथक, राजनीति, भक्ति, पहचान और प्रतिरोध जैसे विविध विषयों की पड़ताल करते हैं।

वर्ष 2026 के लिए मेटा को कुल 422 प्रविष्टियाँ प्राप्त हुईं, जो इसके इतिहास में अब तक की सबसे अधिक बड़ी संख्या है। ये प्रविष्टियाँ देश भर के विभिन्न शहरों, रंगमंच परंपराओं और प्रस्तुति शैलियों का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं। अंतिम सूची में महाराष्ट्र, केरल, पश्चिम बंगाल सहित कई राज्यों की प्रस्तुतियाँ शामिल हैं, जिनमें हिंदी, मलयालम, बांग्ला, मराठी, हिंदुस्तानी, संस्कृत, बुंदेलखंडी, अंग्रेज़ी और जिब्रिश जैसी भाषाओं का प्रतिनिधित्व है।

मेटा सचिवालय के सहयोग से चयन समिति ने सभी प्रविष्टियों का मूल्यांकन किया। इस वर्ष की चयन समिति में रंगमंच समीक्षक, संपादक और लेखिका दीपा गहलोत; निर्देशक और नाटककार जिनो जोसेफ; थिएटर मेंटर केवल अरोरा; प्रख्यात रंग निर्देशक और सीनोग्राफर प्रो. सत्यव्रत राउत; तथा क्यूरेटर और रंगकर्मी स्वरूपा घोष शामिल थे।
